R G Carter celebrates handover of the South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone in Holbeach

Construction work on the new South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone (FEZ) hub in Holbeach has completed and been officially handed over by R G Carter ready for businesses to move in.

The South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone (FEZ) is a revolutionary development which is being delivered by a partnership consisting of the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Lincolnshire County Council, South Holland District Council and the University of Lincoln.

The brand-new multi-use hub will provide small and medium-sized businesses with support services, networking, meeting, and events areas, as well as include space for workshops and offices, offering tenants a specialised, collaborative environment for businesses to share ideas and be at the heart of innovation in the agricultural-tech industry.

Tim Owen, Senior Project Manager for R G Carter welcomed Councillor, Thomas Dyer, for Lincolnshire County Council for a tour of the new facility before officially handing over the project, he said:

“This has been an exciting project for us to be involved in and we are delighted to be able to deliver this innovative development. It’s a great feeling to hand over a project that will help our client achieve their vision, encouraging agri-tech businesses to exchange knowledge, boost productivity and grow.”

The food industry is the fastest growing sector in the UK and employs more than any other industry and it is hoped The South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone will become the centre of this growth and become a world class destination in the Agri-tech industry.

Cllr Thomas Dyer, executive support councillor for economy and place at Lincolnshire County Council, said:

“The Hub building is an exciting development at the South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone that will provide the connections and support for small and medium sized businesses in the agri-food tech sector to grow, innovate and collaborate. It will be a great centre for smaller businesses to benefit from brand new facilities, research, and training opportunities at this world-leading site.”

Designed by Core Architects, the three-storey barn-style building include Trapezoidal metal cladding and red brickwork to provide a unique aesthetic, with tree planted landscaping and a green-roofed cycle-shed with built in bee boxes, all to attract wildlife.

In addition to the FEZ Hub a further 28-acre site has been acquired by Lincolnshire County Council and South Holland District Council, to form part of phase two of the development.
