Known as the area's favourite coffee roaster. Stokes is a family firm that has weathered many storms since it began back in 1902. It’s become a much-loved institution. Now in its fourth generation, Nick Peel is the latest member of the family and the current MD. He, along with his team, is putting 120 years of know-how into sourcing, roasting and blending coffee and tea for retail and wholesale customers as well as running two destination cafés in Lincoln, a new Stokes To Go takeaway, a barista training academy and events and venue hire services too. The Lawn Café is located at Stokes’ HQ, (where the roastery is also based), in the famous Lawn Building - a former 19th Century asylum on Union Road. The High Bridge Café can be found in an amazing historical, Tudor building, (the only one of its kind in the UK), on the high street; both are favourite haunts for tourists and locals. The brand-new Stokes To Go, (next door to the High Bridge), offers the same Stokes standard of quality - but to go – perfect for busy people on the move, though there is some seating upstairs for those who might want to rest their tired feet! Delicious takeaway options made with fresh local produce range from pasties and sandwiches, to sweet treats and drinks. Visitors to the cafés will enjoy tasty dishes including elegant afternoon teas, traditional lunches and hearty breakfasts. There’s lots for shoppers too instore and online, including freshly roasted coffee beans, coffee pods, virtual and in person experiences plus all manner of coffee and tea brewing kit. You can even buy gift vouchers – the choices are endless. Stokes is a company that’s proud of its history and heritage.
