Export Academy: Take Your Website to the World
To guide you through what you need to know and do, and in line with your international strategy and best practice, Department for International Trade (DIT) has designed a bespoke programme for its Export Academy, to get your website ready to take to the world for increased global potential.
The programme, divided into eight bite sized sessions, is aimed at getting you started and progressing through to a fully localised and optimised international website.
Consisting of eight individual 1-hour sessions, each provides a deep dive into a specific website area to get your website fighting fit for international reach and appeal:

Session 1: Check your website’s health in 7 easy steps

This session will show you how to use free tools to check and address your website’s current performance, before embarking on your international website journey.
Session 2: Planning your international website journey
11 July 2022, 14:00 – 15:00
This session will take you through each website area you need to consider as part of your international website journey, helping you create your roadmap to international website success.
Session 3: Platform, Providers and Preparing your Website Brief
19 July 2022, 14:00 – 15:00
It can often be the case that businesses may take the decision to move their website onto another platform, and which may involve sourcing and commissioning external web providers and preparing a website brief. We will share with you how best to do that in this session.
Session 4: Creating and Adapting content for an international audience
26 July 2022, 14:00 – 15:00
In this session we will look at when to use English, how to present it in an understandable format for those who don’t speak English as their first language, and when to use translated and localised content for international reach and appeal.
Session 5: Search Engines – How they work, and what they look for on your website
2 August 2022, 14:00 – 15:00
If you have ever wondered how you might make your website rise up the Search Engine Results Page (SERPS), this session will take a practical look at what search engines need to see, and what you need to do, in order to rank your pages.
Session 6: Increasing website traffic through paid and organic search
9 August 2022, 14:00 – 15:00
This session will cover content based, paid, social and affiliate methods of gaining customers. Giving a good overview of a joined-up customer acquisition strategy using all the means paid and free to attract users.
Session 7: Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) in 7 easy steps
16 September 2022, 14:00 – 15:00
In this session we will introduce how to increase conversion into your website pages by keeping website visitors on page, interact and ultimately increase conversions.
Session 8: How to track and monitor your website analytics to increase performance
23 September 2022, 14:00 – 15:00
Having learnt how to gain more customers and to try and retain them on your website, this session will look at using analytics to further refine your efforts to positively increase website performance.

The Export Academy from the Department for International Trade will help you grow your business by showing you how to sell to new customers around the world.
